In Remembrance of Taylor Dyer

Published Aug 21, 2025

The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative mourns the loss of Taylor Dyer — mother, spouse, Certified Patient Family Partner, Maternal Health Task Force member, and Maternal Child Learning and Action Network member. Taylor joined the MO PQC in February 2024, bringing with her a spirit of compassion, resilience and unwavering dedication to improving maternal health care.

From our very first conversation with Taylor explaining the goals of incorporating patient family partners in maternal health initiatives, it was clear she carried a deep sense of purpose. She embraced the mission behind the Cardiac Conditions in Obstetric Care initiative with grace and courage, offering her lived experience to help shape meaningful change. Her voice was a guiding light in our efforts to create more inclusive, empathetic and effective care for families across Missouri.

Taylor’s contributions to the MO PQC were many: sharing her daughter’s birth story with health care audiences, attending conferences and webinars, providing feedback on maternal health resources, filming multiple interviews about her patient experience, participating in the creation of Missouri’s maternal health strategic plan, and so much more. Taylor engaged consistently and compassionately with an aim toward helping mothers, babies and their families have a better health care experience.

It’s hard to put all of Taylor’s contributions down on paper because they are more than just a list of accomplishments — they are reflections of her heart, her journey and her hope for a better future for others. She reminds us that behind every statistic is a story, and behind every story is a person who matters.

Her legacy lives on in the work we continue to do, inspired by her honesty, her strength and her belief in the power of community. In the fall of 2024, she shared the idea of organizing a health and wellness carnival for local families. We are excited to help bring Taylor’s idea to life by working with organizations in southeast Missouri to develop the first of its kind, wellness fair focusing on community partners, maternal health, behavioral health and substance use, and chronic disease. Even now, Taylor’s determination to help others is changing lives.

We extend our deepest condolences to Taylor’s family, friends and loved ones. Taylor will forever be remembered as a cherished member of our PQC and a true advocate for maternal health.

With gratitude and remembrance,
The Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative
