Dr. Cynthia Herrick is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipid Research at Washington University School of Medicine. She received her medical degree and Masters of Population Health Sciences from Washington University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital and returned to Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital for an endocrinology fellowship.

She has a general endocrinology clinical practice and serves as co-director of the Washington University Adult Transgender Center. She is passionate about integrating health equity in her research and clinical care. She has conducted research on postpartum diabetes screening and prevention among women on Medicaid after a pregnancy complicated by gestational diabetes. Her focus has been on social determinants of health and transitions of care in diabetes prevention and management. As part of this effort, she developed online education materials for nurses and community health workers caring for individuals with gestational diabetes. She is an advocate for improving access to quality, coordinated care for under-resourced communities.
