About

Congenital syphilis is preventable, yet opportunities for prevention can be missed at multiple points — from screening and treatment during pregnancy to follow-up and evaluation of the newborn.

Through case-based scenarios, this webinar will explore evidence-based approaches to maternal syphilis and the care of infants born to mothers with syphilis. Cases will highlight key clinical decision points and the role of public health disease intervention, including reporting, case investigation, partner services, and coordination of care.

The Evidence-Based Care for Maternal Syphilis Infection and Management of Infants Born to Mothers with Syphilis Resource Workbook will provide practical guidance to support clinical decision-making beyond the webinar.

Our call to action: recognize every opportunity to intervene, strengthen clinical-public health partnerships, and prevent congenital syphilis.

Speakers: Amruta Padhye, M.D., FAAP, in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, MU Children’s Hospital/Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of Missouri School of Medicine – Columbia; and Allie Bodin, MPH, CDI, CPH, Director of Data Strategy and Informatics, Missouri Public Health Institute
